Galapagos Photography Competition 2025: And the winner is…

Once again, we were wowed by the number of incredible entries depicting the wonders of the Galapagos Islands, making it a tough task for our judges to pick their winner...

The overall winner this year was Amit Misra from India, with his atmospheric shot of a flock of flamingos.

The impressive photo, titled ‘Look What I Found’, was captured across a still lake on Floreana island, where flamingos will flock to feed and breed.

The competition judges were impressed by the calmness captured in this shot, with GCT President and TV presenter, Monty Halls, remarking at how well the photo “captures the flamingos, the mist, the lava and the lagoon. Just a perfect, atmospheric image.”

Simply stunning. The colour hues here are divine and I feel transported. This needs to be framed and on the wall.

Second place in the competition overall was also awarded to Amit Misra’s dramatic shot of a Galapagos sea lion perched on a set of rocks with Kicker Rock dramatically rising in the distance. While joint third place went to Mikael Schultz for his adorable shot of a swallow-tailed gull chick beside its mother, and Chloe King for her action-packed shot of a Galapagos sea lion hunting underwater.

It’s not easy to take a unique shot of a sea lion and Kicker Rock, but this image nails it. Really like the layers to this image.

Monty Halls, GCT President and TV presenter

This year’s judges were GCT President and TV presenter, Monty Halls; filmmaker and producer, Charlie Pinder; director of our competition sponsor, Mundy Adventures,Edwina Lonsdale; and photographer and scientist at the Charles Darwin Foundation, Agustín Gutiérrez.

We've all been there! Mother grabbing a minute's shuteye, child standing by despondently waiting for a bit of attention. Lovely fuzzy chick too, and I really like that the whole thing is a composition in grey with the exception of the scarlet eyelid.
