Introduction

Learning objectives

  • To understand the term plastic pollution.
  • To understand how plastic ends up in our ocean.
  • To understand ways we can protect the ocean and marine species from the impact of plastic pollution.
  • Explore the life of plastics, including how they are a part of our lives and how making a few changes will enable people  to live more sustainably.

Students’ outcomes

  • To research sources of marine plastic pollution.
  • Understand and explain the terms single-use plastics.
  • Consider the impacts of plastics on marine species and relate them to feed strategies and habitat.
  • Consider how we can reduce the amount of plastic we use through changes in behaviour and choices we make.
  • Show understanding of the 5 R’s
