A Galapagos Journey Storybook

£10.00

Marti the Hammerhead Shark is our very first educational book. It follows Marti, a young scalloped hammerhead shark, on her journey from the Galapagos Islands to Cocos Island, Costa Rica.

Through Marti and her marine friends’ magical, yet perilous, journey across the Pacific Ocean, children will learn about the dangers that critically endangered scalloped hammerheads face on their epic migrations. From industrial fishing to plastic pollution, this educational book teaches children about the threats facing our oceans globally. Furthermore, they will discover more about the scientists who track these incredible journeys and how to protect marine species.

The book fits into our Endangered Sharks of Galapagos and Connecting with Nature programmes, acting as an education tool for local children in Galapagos and internationally to engage them in shark conservation. You can read about the successful launch of the storybook here. The book is written by GCT’s Sarah Langford and is beautifully illustrated by Lisa Brown. It is sure to capture a child’s imagination and teach them more about the marine life of Galapagos.

The individual books cost just £10, with profits going towards our work to protect Galapagos. If you would like to make an additional donation to our education work, there is an option to do so.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak and many families’ sudden switch to homeschooling, we launched a free six-part guided reading session for teachers, parents and carers based on the Galapagos Storybook. You can access all of our resources here and you will receive free, unlimited downloads of each resource after purchasing your copy of the book.

Please note, all staff are currently working from home. Our online shop remains open for orders, which will be sent out on a weekly basis.
