We are very excited to announce that TV presenter, explorer and marine biologist Monty Halls is our new President.

Monty has become a familiar face on television, presenting a number of fantastic documentaries such as the BBC’s Great Barrier Reef and The Fisherman’s Apprentice, and Channel 5’s Dive Mysteries and Great Ocean Adventures. As well as being a well known presenter, Monty is also a qualified marine biologist, a travel writer, an expedition leader and a former Royal Marine.

For many years Monty has been an Ambassador for GCT but he has now agreed to take on the top spot as President. He first visited Galapagos in 2005 whilst filming for Great Ocean Adventures and was captivated by the Islands.

“These are magical and mystical islands that must be preserved for future generations to enjoy. The Galapagos Conservation Trust does amazing work, so I’m really looking forward to getting more involved.”

Anyone who has seen his documentaries will know that he has an infectious enthusiasm for the natural world and we are delighted to welcome him as President. Monty will also be the keynote speaker at this year’s Galapagos Day on 1 October at the Royal Geographical Society. More information on this soon.
