Thank you to everyone who entered the 2021 Galapagos Photography Competition and a special thanks to all those who donated towards our work to protect this magnificent Archipelago.
The judges for this year’s competition were Creative Director at Freeborne Media and Executive Producer of BBC’s Blue Planet II, James Honeyborne, professional photographer, Jay McLaughlin and Director of Aqua-Firma, Ralph Pannell.
Congratulations to Leighton Lum who won the 2021 competition with this brilliant photograph of a pair of Nazca boobies tending to their chick on Española. Here’s what the judges had to say:
The low viewpoint, and high dynamic colour and lighting range of this photo make for a very dramatic result that really makes you feel that you are where these birds are.
Love the wide angle of this ‘family’ photo. Creates a striking composition.
Congratulations to Fisher Houston, who won our 2021 public choice vote with his ‘Blue Iguana’ image.
We had so many brilliant images for the 2021 Galapagos photography competition, despite the huge decrease in travel to Galapagos in 2020 and 2021. We would like to say a huge thank you to all those who entered and donated towards our work. You can see the winning and runner-up images for each category below.
