We’re excited to announce the raffle prizes up for grabs at this year’s Galapagos Day on 01 October 2015! We’ve got a great selection of treats to win, so make sure you buy your ticket to the event to be in with a chance of walking away with these goodies!
Framed print of a courting Frigate Bird by Robert E Fuller
Robert E. Fuller is one of Britain’s foremost wildlife artists. His trademark, highly-detailed paintings have been sold worldwide and have been bought by the RSPB and the National Trust. He travels the world to study birds and immerses himself amongst their natural habitat for months at a time.
Fuller watched the magnificent frigatebirds on his trip to the Galapagos Islands. During the breeding season, the males puff out their throats creating an incredible display of inflated red chests. In this painting, Fuller captures the intimacy of this ritual.
Darwin’s Origin Beer
With a more modern hop led style, Salopian Brewery has proved very successful in the recognition of the brewer’s prowess at every level of competition. Up for grabs is a 6 pack of Darwin’s origin Beer which is a specially brewed ale to celebrate the bicentennial of Charles Darwin’s birthday.
Selection of Earth Conscious Products
Earth Conscious was born out of a deep desire to challenge the way we consume and they are devoted to bringing eco-friendly products to a wider audience. At Galapagos Day you’ll have the chance to win some of Earth Conscious’ most popular products. By replacing disposable straws with these reusable stainless steel straws, you’ll save resources and create less plastic pollution. You can also be in with the chance of winning their 100% natural and handmade deodorant with no added toxins or chemicals.
Stand Up Paddle Boarding
Stand up paddle boarding is a new sport which is rapidly growing in popularity across the UK, originating from Hawaii as an offshoot of surfing. We are excited to offer you the opportunity to win a gift voucher for you and 7 friends to stand up paddle board down the River Thames with SUPKiko.
A Selection of Onya Products
Onya have long been frustrated by the amount of waste in today’s society and were worried about the impact on our natural world. With each Onya bag replacing around 1,000 plastic bags, both are not only reusable but are made out of recycled old plastic bottles and can be folded into their own key-sized pouch so they are always “Onya”.
Onya want to challenge our overall disposable culture so Onya has grown to stock a range of bottles and sandwich wrappers amongst other green goodies. So we’re also giving away an H2Onya bottle which arms you against the disposable plastic water bottles, and an Onya Lunch which lets you enjoy your lunch waste free, allowing you to wrap your food without plastic cling film.
Denbies Wine Estate Experiences
Family-run Denbies is one of the UK’s largest wine producers and holds multiple gold awards for its sparkling wine production. The first raffle prize is a vineyard Train Tour for two. You will be taken to the most beautiful viewing points to experience the panoramic views of the Estate. The seasonal changing scenery captures the imagination and this is not to be missed. The second prize is an ultimate wine experience for two and starts with a 360 cinema experience and then a guided winery walking tour where you will see today’s wine production. Ending in the atmospheric cellars, you’ll get to taste a collection of classic wines.
If one of these raffle prizes has taken your fancy, head over to our events page now to purchase your ticket to Galapagos Day. Tickets are just £30 (£15 for students) and include a drink voucher. We will also have talks from TV presenter Monty Halls, and wildlife filmmaker James Brickell, as well as a photography exhibition, project displays, artefacts from Darwin’s HMS Beagle voyage and lots more!
We would like to thank our prize donors for their generosity in giving to our raffle, and we hope you will check out their websites to see what other products they have to offer.
Thanks also to our event sponsors Steppes Travel, providers of luxury holidays.
Proceeds from ticket and raffle sales will be contributing to the Galapagos Future Fund, supporting projects to secure a sustainable future for the Galapagos Marine Reserve. The Galapagos Conservation Trust supports vital conservation efforts to ensure the sustainable future of Galapagos marine biodiversity. From cutting edge research on the biggest fish in the sea to supporting the formation of management plans and tackling marine plastic pollution there is a lot of work to do and we need your support.
