This year, we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of Galapagos Conservation Trust.
During the last three decades, we have seen many changes on the Islands, both positive and negative. Thanks to the projects that we have helped to drive forward, we have seen whole islands cleared of invasive species, new protections for marine life, and the next generation of Galapagos-born conservationists fighting to protect their home islands. At the same time, we have seen tourist numbers climbing precipitously, industrial fishing fleets circling, and a rising tide of plastic pollution threatening to overwhelm local authorities.

Join us for a very special webinar to reflect on both the successes and the challenges of the last 30 years, and to look ahead with hope to the next 30 years. This is your chance to hear about GCT’s future plans, and to put your questions to the team. What’s next for the restoration of Floreana island, and how can we prevent future introductions of invasive species? How do we strike a balance between local livelihoods and effective protection of wildlife? What might a more regenerative model look like for tourism, fishing or agriculture? How do we ensure that Galapagos is resilient in the face of external threats, whether it’s climate change or geopolitical instability?
